Nigeria initially wasn't given any independence or freedom of Self-government. All what took place on october 1st, 1960 were all rhetoric by colonial masters in changing their Strategies for countinue dominating and exploitating our natural resources from colonialism to neo-colonialism as well as imperialism It's quite unfortunate for a reasonable person to celebrate the so called Independence, looking at the current situation in the country. A country where the ruling class subjected the masses into abject poverty and hunger, fabricated all sort of security challenges as well as denying the citizens access to social amenities for over 6 decades. Where is the Independent?. This is after we ignore the fact that the country is now the capital poverty of the world, a state where access to three mils square a day has become something discomfort; citizens are in critical condition more than one could ever imagine. Nigeria is a rich country, no doubt about that. In terms of natural and mineral resources, Nigeria is capable of competing, a self sufficient state in terms of ability, but unfortunately here we are talking about poverty; 62 years after independence. Nigeria practiced military system of government before switching to the so called Democratic system, but now the government resort to violating the rules and undermining regulations governing the country. Violating Human rights has become daily routine, disobeying court order become normal, while killing peaceful citizens is what the government has become veteran of. The authorities, with the help of their foreign masters, safe guard the terrorist and eliminate the law abiding citizen and detain harmless for committing No crime. What kind of Independent nation is this? In terms of economy, Before Nigeria was colonized by britain, during the second half of 19 centuary, the variouse nationality groups that currently made up Nigeria were largely an agricultural people. There were foods, they were self-sufficient and produced variety of commodities that had been exporting oversea at that time. During the 19th century, the abolition of the slave trade cleared the way of expansion of trade in agricultural product from Africa to Europe, particularly palm oil from west african coastal areas. The reality here is that, they just intervened in to our blessed nation to exploite our Natural and minerals as well as human resources, they looted our treasury. By the use of colonialism and neo-colonialism, by slave trade system and stole our agricultural products and exported them to their various nations, by neo-colonizing us now they dynamises the tactics by the use of insecurity means such as boko haram, bandintry and kidnapping to countinues looting our natural resources and having control over us. The worst part of it is their bid to incapacitate and distablised our religion by killing us day and night to cheat by looting our treasury depriving our service and throwing us in to abject poverty and hunger, actually the western powers that rule and control the country through the proxy servers put Nigerians in to the situation we found ourselves now.
