It is heartbreaking to see the bloodshed of innocent citizens in our country call Nigeria and that of freedom fighters such as Jibril Usman Sarki.
Jibril Usman Sarki is a freedom fighter for the oppressed regardless of religion or ethnicity. He is one of the pillars of the FREEDOM FIGHTERS NG movement. He publishes reports of abuses and oppression in countries such as Palestine, Yemen, India, Afghanistan, Nigeria and more. To this day, he publishes many articles on Twitter handle of @f_fightersng and oppression at www.freedomfightersng.com.
Jibril Usman Sarki is a prisoner at Kuje Prison in Abuja awaiting trial before Justice Suleiman Belgore of the Federal High Court in Abuja on charges of joining the Islamic Movement protest for demanding freedom of their oppressed Leader Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky (H) at the #FreeZakzaky protest on 22th July, 2019 at the Federal Secretariat, Abuja.
Jibril Usman Sarki was arrested along with 62 others. Within a week of their arrest, three (3) freedom seekers died at the hands of SARS police due to torture and ill-treatment, and police took 3 bodies to the hospital Asokoro district. The bodies have not been returned to their families for three years till now.
On Tuesday night, 05/07/2022, a Nigerian Army contingent was sent to Kuje Prison after the Attacked, and heavy gunfire from the attackers forced hundreds of inmates to flee the campus to save their lives.
So Jibril Usman Sarki and some other prisoners escaped from the prison. About 2 hours after the incident, the inmates saw some Nigerian Army vehicles patrolling the streets of Kuje; they decided to meet with the Army and seek protection and assistance to return to the prison themselves where they are being held.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that confused prisoners shouted "We are prisoners", but instead of helping, the Army fired shots at them, injuring and killing several people, including Jibril Usman Sarki which resulte to his last breath .
After the shooting, the Army kept the injured and the bodies of those killed in the hands of the prison authorities.
We condemn the killing of our colleague Jibril Usman Sarki by the Nigerian Army and demanding justice, also immediate release of his corpse.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to our brothers and sisters, relatives and friends, and at the same time ask God to have mercy on him and accept his martyrdom.
We do not witness anything from Jibril Usman Sarki except good deeds.
